From where Ravi River is originating


Here in this article we are talking about the Ravi River which is flowing in the Chamba district and this river is originating from the Bada banghal which is on the top of the hill and height of this place is about 4300 meter from the see level. This river flows across Pakistan then it reaches into the sea.

Origin of Ravi River or Iravati River

Here in this article we are talking about one of holiest river which is flowing in the Chamba district. It originates from the Himalayan Mountains and travel about 850 km long distance to reach in the sea, on this river many hydroelectric projects is made and on the bank of this river so many city are situated. Basically in this article we are telling about the history of the river.
Origin of Ravi river
Basically the Ravi River originates from the Himalayan Mountains and name of the place is Bada Banghal, this place is situated on the boundary of Chamba and Lahual and Spiti valley but it generally came in the Chamba district, this place is situated on the height of 4300 meter from the see level. In the ancient times this river is called as Iravati River. This place is always covered with snow so this river mainly due to these glaciers which are slowly melting down. This river basically travels a distance of about 850 km to reach into the see which go across two different countries i.e. India and Pakistan. The journey of this river is as, firstly it originates from the Bada Banghal and flows across the Himalayan Mountains and enter into the Bharmour then it is come across Chamba then it enter into the northern Punjab state in pathankot after that it flows across the border of India and Pakistan then it enter into the Lahore and after that it reach its destination i.e. it reaches into the sea. When this river reaches the Lahore then it combines with the Chenab River after this places these two rivers will become a single river.
On the bank of this river there are so many city are situated firstly when it enter across Himalayan mountains then on the bank of this river one of the oldest place of Chamba is situated which is known as Bharmour, which is the capital of chamba in ancient times, here in this place there is a famous temple is located which is known as Chaurasi temple and about 10 km from this place there is Dal lake. After crossing this place then about 50 km from this place then Chamba district came and this river is dividing Chamba into two parts which are connected with the Bridge. After this place in the Chamera they made a hydroelectric project on this river which generates electricity and providing it into the Chamba district and this project is known as NHPC (National Hydroelectric power Corporation). After this place it enter into the Punjab district then it flows across the border of India and Pakistan and enter into the Pakistan into the Lahore then there it meets with Chenab river and atlast it reaches into the sea.
