Kuvempu is a known name in the field of Kannada Literature who was a kannada write and a poet. The Real name of Kuvempu is Kuppali Venkatappagowda Puttappa. Kuvempu is his pen name. He was born on December 29, 1904 and lived until November 11 ,1994.

Rashtrakavi Kuvembu is the second among the Kannada poets to have been awarded as Rashtrakavi. Rashtrakavi Kuvenbu's famous work is Sri Ramayana Darshanam, the rewriting of the great ancient Indian epic Ramayana in modern Kannada

Rashtrakavi Kuvempu was also give the award of Padma Bhushan by Government of India for his great contributions given to India.

Early life of Kuvempu

:

Birth place of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu is Hirekodige in Koppa taluk, of Chikkamagaluru district in Karnataka and brought up in Malenadu region of Tirthahalli, called Kuppali, of Shivamogga district. After the schooling of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu in Tirthahalli, Rashtrakavi Kuvempu left to Mysore for further education in Wesleyan high school. Rashtrakavi Kuvempu had is graduation in Maharaja College of Mysore and completed his graduation in the year 1929 majoring in Kannada.

Career of Rashtrakavi Kuvempu

:

1929 = Rashtrakavi Kuvempu had his career started in the same college where he was graduated ie., Maharaja College of Mysore as Lecturer in 1929.

1936 = Rashtrakavi Kuvempu as an assistant professor in central college of Bangalore from 1936.
1946 = Rashtrakavi Kuvempu rejoined Maharaja college of Mysore in 1946 as a professor.
1955 = Rashtrakavi Kuvempu then went on to become a principal of Maharaja college in 1955.
2956 = Soon in 1956 Rashtrakavi Kuvempu was elected as the Vice-Chancellor of Mysore University where he served till retirement in 1960. He was the first graduate from Mysore University to rise to that position.
