Tamil Nadu State is famous for its traditional way of preparing the Tamil Recipe Avial. Avial is a blend of mixed vegetables with curd and coconut to give a balanced flavor which is highly nutritious and healthy food. It tastes pretty good when served with Tamil Recipes Adai, Steamed Rice, Chappathi, Poori and so on. But great combination is Adai-Avial.Ingredients required for Tamil Recipe Avial:
Geen banana - 2 nos.(medium size)
Yam - 150 gms
Brinjal (slender) - 2 nos.
Drumsticks - 2 nos.
Green chillies - 4 nos.
Cucumber - 1 small piece
Beans of any kind - few
Turmeric powder - a pinch
Coconut grated - 1 small
Cumin seed - a pinch
Curry leaves - a few
Fresh Coconut oil - 1 tablespoonful
Cluster beans - few
Thick Curd - 2 tablespoonful
Salt to taste.Method to Make Tamil Recipe Avial:
1. Wash and cut all the vegetables, each piece about 1/2 cm thick and about 3 cm long. Cut three green chillies lengthwise.
2. Put the vegetables in a pan, add turmeric powder and add enough water to cook the vegetables well and place it on fire till the vegetables becomes tender but not mushy.
3. Grind the grated coconut, cumin seeds (Jiragam in Tamil), green chilli and make it as to a fine paste by adding little bit of water.
4. Add this mixture well with curd and pour this on top of the cooked vegetables and mix through. Add salt to taste and reduce the flame to low.
5. Add fresh Coconut oil and curry leaves and remove from fire. Now the traditional Tamil Recipe Avial is ready for serving.
