Ingredients Required for Deep Fried Tamil Recipe Milagu Vadai


Urad dal (ulundu)- 1 cup
Black Pepper (milagu) - 1 tsp
Cummin (jeeragam) - 1 tsp
Raw Rice - 1 tablespoon
Salt to taste
Oil for frying

Method: How to Make Tamil Recipe Milagu Vadai (South Indian Peppercorn Fritters)


1. Wash and soak Urad dal along with a tablespoon of raw rice for 15 minutes.Milagu Vadai

2. Grind this dal into a coarse paste by adding little water. The paste should be coarse and thick.

3. Take this batter in a vessel and mix it with coarsely grinded pepper and cummin seeds. Add 2 to 3 tablespoon of hot

oil to this batter and mix it with your hands.

4. Take a small amount of batter and make it as a ball and pat it as a round disc on a plastic sheet or on a clean white cloth.

5. Grease your hands while patting the vada to avoid the batter sticking onto your hands.

6. Make a hole at the center. Drop it gently into the hot oil one by one.

7. Take it from oil when half fried and keep it aside.

8. Continue with the remaining batter by following the same procedure as above and when finished, put all half fried vadas in oil again and deep fry it till it turns gold in colour.

9. Store it in an air-tight container. Deep fried crispy Tamil Recipe Milagu Vadai is ready for your crunchy bite.
