What is your major unlearning experince
Learning- we all know. It is a continuous process, whether formal or informal; conscious or unknowingly as and by default and in the usual routine of our life. But what is 'unlearning'? It is removing and shedding consciously what we learned. Does it really happen? In what circumstances unlearning happens or needed?Really speaking just as learning is a continuous process, so also unlearning is a natural process. However unless and until it is consciously done under special situations and under compulsion, we might not even be aware of that. Though from childhood till this day each of us would have unlearned a few or many things, which we may not even recall, one such unlearning comes to my mind.
In India we are taught and trained for Right Hand Drive. Vehicles to keep left and pedestrians to keep to right of the road. Now take a situation when one migrates and stays in another country where the system is of Right Hand drive. There this person has to unlearn the left hand drive he learned in India and has to learn Right hand drive.
Many times we consciously unlearn when we know that what we learned was wrong or not usable and practicable now. Re-learning also occurs mostly with unlearning. The example is when we had migrated to the ABCD key arrangement from the "QWERTY' keyboard. Especially those who had learned the traditional typewriting.
If we analyze and review, we may be able to cite some unique personal experiences in unlearning. Members please narrate your views and experiences.
