    Today is world autism awareness day

    Many children are suffering from the condition of autism since their birth and then their parents have to take their care even if they grew up as adult. Autism is underdevelopment of the mental faculties in a child and retardation in growth occurs.
    There are many organisations and institutions which at national as well as international levels try to tackle and help the individuals having this problem.
    It will be interesting to note that Bollywood industry also had made a few films depicting autism. Some of these are - Mai Aisa Hi Hoon (2005), Koi Mil Gaya (2003), My name is Khan (2010), Barfi (2012), and Yuvraj (2008).

    Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is caused due to differences in the brain. Some known differences are mainly due to genetic conditions. Still, a lot of research is going on to understand the difference that causes this problem. Many doctors say that multiple causes of ASD.
    People with ASD will have problems with social communication. They may not be able to interact like normal people with others. They may be indulging in repetitive behaviour. These people will have peculiar ways of learning, and moving.
    We should be sympathetic towards such people and should not make fun of them. There are special schools for such children and I know a school in Hyderabad that is started by the mothers of such children.

    In Dehradun (Uttarakhand), there is a group of people who have opened a library and working place for the children having this disorder. These children are attending there and learning various tasks including handicrafts. That is a free facility and many children have been benefited by it.
