Vijay prakash, a playback singer, initially from Mysore who moved to Mumbai in the year, 1996 is on his wheels rocking the Tamil film industry with his bold, more enough energetic voice. He has been a part of Rahman's mucis troop, lending out his voice for most of the recent films that Rahman has been composing. On the top of all these credits, he is acclaimed to be one among the 4 singers who have sung the Oscar winning, "Jai Ho". This song was awarded in the Grammy awards in the category, "best song written for Motion Pictures", Television or other visual media.

Vijay has performed in almost all Indian languages like Kannada, Tamil, Hindi and Telugu. Most of the Play Back singers have talent in other areas apart from their regular singing skill. Apart from singing, he has hosted a Kannada reality show Sa Re Ga Ma Pa on Zee Kannada and does a fusion with Ustad Zakir Hussain.

Early life and Background of Playback Singer Vijay Prakash


Vijay Prakash was born in Mysore, Karnataka, India. His family belonged to a musical family with great essence of music knowledge. His parents were carnatic singers, L.Ramasesha and Lopa Mudra Prakash. No wonder that Vijay had outstanding interest in the field of music and learnt carnatic music from his parents that made a strong foundation for him to stand on light music. This also helped him to develop his musical knowledge and musical skill. After his schooling in Mysore, he got graduated with an Engineering degree from Sri Jaya Chamarajendra Engineering College in Mysore.

After finishing his graduation from Mysore, he shifted over to the happening Metropolitan city in India – Mumbai in the year in 1996. Suresh Wadkar was the person with whom Vijay Prakash became a student. Vijay Prakash was a participant of the program, Sa re ga ma that was broadcasted on Zee TV, hosted by Sonu Nigam. He made it to the mega finals, but couldn't make out to the finals; after which he was made to host a show in Zee Kannada for Sa re ga ma pa.

Vijay's first break into the cine industry was when he sang for Rahman in Ashutosh Gowariker's Swades followed by the same composer's Tamil track for the movie – New. His song for a Kannada movie became famous and got through the box office – Gaalipata. He had a good growth in his experience and career step by step.

He has one of the judges in the confident star singer2, aired on Asianet Suvarna in the year 2009. In the year 2010, he became a regular singer under the ultimate music composer, Rahman as he performed several song such as – Hossana that turned out to be super duper hit all over the world. The same song was sung in Telugu too for the movie Ye maaye chesave, the telugu version of Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya. Other songs such as Beea Beera for Raavan in the Hindi version and also for the tamil version as "Veera Veera"; "powerstar" for Kormam Puli and Khadal anukkal for the movie Endhiran and "Neelo Valapu" for the same telugu version.

Another veteran music director, Illayaraja gave him a song for the movie – Naan Kadhavul; wherein he was given a Sanskrit song – "Om Shivoham" penned by the lyricist, Vaali. "Poovaasam" for the movie Anbe Sivam set to the tunes of Vidyasagar. Some of the music directors he has worked with are Yuvan Shankar Raja, Vijay Anthony, Harris Jeyaraj, MM Keeravani, Sagar Desai, Mano Murthy etc.
