At the age of two and a half years she became very popular with 'ganamelas' which is a group of audiences where she gave a performance of singing nearly 3000 songs from her repertoire. Apart from this she has also grabbed various awards such as Rotary International award, UNESCO gold medal etc. Later in the year 1999 on august 15th Sangeet Sagar at Thalasseri was started by her father at I.M.A Hall. He left the R.R Orchestra group at Bangalore to start this. Now for this group Alka is the star singer as she gives a performance of 15 songs that attracts everyone. However there are also other singers present in the group. On every program Alka's songs are of great attraction. Alka has also brought her name in the Limca Books of Indian Records. Alka Ajith is a fan of playback singer K.S Chitra. She got her inspirations from Chinna Kuyil Chitra and also released more than 6 audio cassetes.

At the age of 10 she rendered a debut album called 'Chakkaramuthu' which was exactly released on January 30, 2008 in Kannur.
