History of Madras Transport Corporation


In 1947, the Government of Madras started the transport for the people of Chennai for the first time by introducing 30 buses in Madras City now known as Chennai, the buses were first under the control of private operators. The corporation later came under the control of the Madras State Transport Department. In 1972, a department was setup separately by the government and a company was setup in order to produce a commercial approach among the people. Thus the PALLAVAN TRANSPORT CORPORATION LIMITED was formed under the Companies Act 1956 issued by the government of Tamil Nadu with more than thousands of buses.

Growth Of Madras Transport Corporation Today


Today the older buses which are green colored pallavan buses are replaced to modern deluxe buses, ultra deluxe and normal for providing comfort to the people of Chennai. The MTC plays a vital role in the everyday life from lower class to middle class people. Many peoples are benefited through the MTC transportation throughout the city limits and even to the outskirts of city and suburb districts.
Thiru.M.Karunanidhi Ex-CM of Tamil Nadu introduced new modern deluxe buses for the welfare of Chennai from ultra deluxe to normal buses. Also in November 11, 2011, 100 air conditioned Volvo buses have also been added to the fleet. The fares for these buses start from Rs.15 up to a maximum of Rs.30(within city limits) and Rs.75(Sub-urbs and Other districts).

The MTC corporation is a public service corporation and takes several steps to help the public in Chennai but also there are many drawbacks and complaints raise from the public towards them. Here I'm going to produce certain details regarding MTC so that you can have a safe journey and also its the responsibility of every citizen of Chennai to bring up the city in an efficient way. As of we can't make everything right but little cautions can make people utilize the facility and bring up the MTC buses.

Please get down from the bus in the bus stops and not in signals as it may cause disturbance to the other vehicle people and also dangerous to you.
Please don't travel in foot boards , hanging outside the buses may cause serious damage to your life's.
Get tickets for right stop where you have to get down and also get the correct change from your conductor. If he didn't give ask and get your change its your money.
If you have any problem with the co-passenger like theft or harassment tell the conductor, he will help you by taking the bus to the Police Station.
If conductor itself a problem come on ring up this number given down this number is to report complaints on the driver or conductor or both of them for the following reasons:
If the bus is not stopped in the bus stop properly.
Not issuing tickets properly or giving the right amount of change to the passenger.
If the conductor fights or argues with you for the following reasons or if you have a reason valuable.
