In 2008 they came till the finals but got defeated in the hands of Rajasthan Royals. Their dream to win the cup was destroyed in that season in the final match.
In 2009 the team played well but their dream of entering finals was thrashed in the semi finals itself in the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore again.
In the season 2010 the chennai kings gave a strong performance in the league and proved themselves till the finals and won the game by defeating the Mumbai Indians and grabbed the IPL cup for the first time. The match was played well not only by the International players but also the home players contributed their best for their victory. The same year 2010 CSK, RCB and Mumbai Indians three teams from IPL got qualified for the Champions League T20 and proved themselves there and defeated Chevrolet Warriors and grabbed the cup in the finals. By this Chennai Super Kings got the title the first Indian team to win Champions League T20 match. This match was held in Johannesburg, South Africa. Chennai's Murali Vijay won the golden bat award for the highest scorer of the season and Chennai's Ravichandran Ashwin won the man of series for catching more wickets in that season.
In 2011 CSK played drastically and qualified till the finals where Mumbai Indians were again gave a tough fight for them by waiting in the finals. In the finals both the strong teams fighted hard for the cup where Chennai Super Kings won the match and kept the crowned cup for themselves for the second time. This time they got the awesome title as the first team to win two cups in the IPL season.
In the year 2012 CSK luckily got selected into semi finals but had a tough fight before entering into the semi finals they played and won Mumbai Indians in play off round one more time with a big victory and marched into semi finals. Where in semi finals they thrashed Delhi Dare Devils and marched into finals once again. In the final they lost with Kolkata Knight Riders and became runner up. The team played a fair game and was a tough competent for all the teams played in IPL match in all seasons was a successful and wonderful team for its fair play.
