Devi Sri Prasad was a born Telugu but got himself settled in Chennai. DSP was born on the 2nd of August in Vedurpaka in the state of Andhra Pradesh. He later moved to Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. His father was a school teacher and a write. DSP completed his schooling at Sir M.Venkata Subba Rao High School in T.Nagar in Chennai. His interest for music was even more developed when he was at school for he took part in many competitions. Devi Sri Prasad eventually initiated his career in music with his debut album “Dance Party". Though his start with the album did not do well; his career with the music direction industry was established in the year 1999. His first music composing was started with his own mother tongue – Telugu. The first music composed movie was “Devi". DSP was a devoted disciple of the most renowned musician – Mandolist U. Srinivas. In the Tamil film industry, DSP has composed music for over a dozen films that were huge hits for his fast numbers. This included several box office hit success.
Apart from being a musician, DSP has written lyrics for several songs in Telugu. Some of the songs where he worked as lyricist are “Vecha Vechaga" for the film Vamsi starring Mahesh Babu and Namrata; “Premate Yemitante" for the film Anandam, “Chaila Chaila" for the movie Shankar Dada MBBS, “Udayinche Suryudinadigaa" and “Akaasam" for the film Kalusukovalani.
