Benny Dayal is an Indian play back singer. Benny became a part of the play back singing industry by being a part of the S5 band lauched by SS music. Benny has been a part of most of the songs composed by Rahman in several movies like Vinnaithaandi Varuvaya, Delhi – 6, Ghajini and many more. Benny had his first debut as a result of the voice hunt that was launched by the Southern Spice (SS) music. Benny Dayal was born on the 13 of May in the year 1984 in the district of Kollam in Kerala. Though he was born in Kerala, India; Benny had his school education from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. After completing his schooling in the U.A.E, Benny persuaded his graduation in Chennai at the Madras Christian College for his under graduation where he took up B.Com as his main course. After terminating his B.Com, Benny joined in the same college for his diploma in Journalism.
After completing his studies, Benny joined for his career to start with RR Donnelley. His fervor and ardor for music made him quit his BPO job and take up his career as music and trained himself in professional music. Career and Livelihood of Benny Dayal
Benny had a good start for his career when he was selected for the voice hunt contest conducted by the SS Music Channel. Thereafter, Benny had no look back in his career. 5 contestants were selected out of this voice hunt and these 5 joined together and worked for the album named “S5". This starred all the 5 contestants and sung a few songs for the album that was composed by the music director Pravin Mani. Pravin Mani worked as an assistant to Rahman and this made Rahman more familiarize with Benny. This made a huge break in his life for Benny became the official singer for Rahman in most of his compositions and proved to be versatile singer in the film industry. Benny has sung many songs in many films and albums in almost all the Indian languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi and many others too.

Apart from album songs, Benny's major contribution was for film based songs that was mainly under the music composition of Rahman. Some the successful numbers were “Arima Arima" for the film Enthiran staring Rajinikath and Aishwarya Rai in the lead role which was under the direction of Shankar and under the production house of Sun Pictures, “Kodu Potta" and “Kedakkari" for Ravana which was a Mani Ratnam movie starring Vikram and Aishwarya Rai again in the lead roles, “Omana Penne" for Vinnaithandi Varuvaaya which turned out to be tremendous hit and occupied the charts for more than 100 days. The same film in Telugu – Ye Maaya Chesave had Benny's voice for the song “Kudanappu Bomma". In the Hindi film industry, Benny worked along with Rahman for many popular numbers like “Masakal Masakali" and “Rehna Tu" for Delhi – 6, “Kaise Mujhe" for Ghajini starring Amir Khan and Asin in the lead roles and the movie was directed by Muruga Doss, “Mastam Mastam" and “Tu Meri Dost hai" for the film Yuvraaj, “Nazrein Milana Nazrein Churana" and “Pappu can't dance saala" for Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na starring Imran Khan and Genelia D'souza in the lead roles.

Benny has given out many live performances such as those that he showed out at the National Institute of Technology at Calicut on the 26th of March in the year 2009 as a part of the great cultural festival Ragam 09. At IIT SAARANG – 08, SASTRA University and many more colleges Benny has given his best of the performances. He also performed with Stephen Devassy and others at SSN College of Engineering on the 5th of March in the year 2010 and at Ma Baselios College of Engineering and Technology as a part of the great Instincts cultural event. He frenzied the audience at the jam packed Music academy on the 27th of March for a cause organized by Rotract club of Madras and the College of Engineering at Guindy. Presently, Benny is tie up with a band called “Hexachord" an Indian live music band based in Chennai. This band primarily comprises of his College mates from the MCC.
Benny Dayal was awarded the RD Burman award for the new music talent given over by the 54th film fare awards in the year 2009.
