Charulatha Mani was born in a family of musicians wherein her first guru was her mother. She learnt carnatic music from her mother, Hemalatha Mani who was a renowned Veena artist and a student of the famous Chitti Babu. Charulatha trained herself later with Sandhavandanam Poorna Pragna Rao (Son of Sandhyavandhanam Srinivasa Rao), Calcutta K.S.Krishnamurthy, Flute Vekataraman Iyer and V.Subrahmanyam. With her schooling wrapped up in the Chennai metropolitan, she persuaded her graduation with the Bachelors in Engineering in the department if Mechanical Engineering at the prestigious Anna University, Chennai.
