Chinmayi playback singer's career as a singer commenced when she had won a contest in Sun TV for a show called Saptaswarangal, where the competition was judged over by the famous singer – Srinivas who introduced her to A.R.Rahman – the musical man. Even at her first song she was taken high in air for she had sung the first song for A.R.Rahman in the movie “Kannathil Muthamittal", an eponymous Mani Ratnam movie.
