Play back singer Hariharan was an instinctive Kerala born was brought up in Mumbai in a Tamil Brahmin family. Singer Hariharan was graduated in sciences and law with a bachelor's degree from the S.I.E.S College. Being brought up in a background filled with carnatic music, he had no much time to take music to be grasped in his blood. Son of legendary carnatic vocalist, Shrimati Alamelu and the late H.A.S. He entered into his very native Tamil film industry in 1992 with the unsullied music director A.R. Rahman for the movie Roja by Mani Ratnam in which he sang the song “tamizha tamizha". He also bagged the Tamil Nadu state government award for singing the song “uyire uyire" from the movie Bombay for A.R.Rahman in the year 1995. By now, he proved to be the finest artists in singing melody numbers and had given many hit songs throughout the year.
He had sung for many movies like taal, mudhalvan, indira, jeans, minsara kanavu, rangeela, muthu, iruvar, anbe aaruyire, sivaji, alaipayuthey, guru, kannathil muttamittal etc,.
