Bhindawas Sanctuary is a bird sanctuary spread in over an area of 1074 acres which is greater than the area of Sultanpur bird sanctuary. The highlight of this place is mainly the birds and the lake. It has a man-made embankment which made as a precautionary measure to store water escaped from the Jawaharlal Nehru canal through an escape channel in case of a power failure at the Lift Canal system. The sanctuary has been named after the name of Bhindawas lake and attracts about 250 species of resident and migratory during the peak season.
This place is an excellent spot for bird enthusiastic. One can find a good variety of exotic birds even before they reach the sanctuary near the canal. The authorities at the sanctuary are well trained and keep a record of the visiting birds each year. You get a vehicle to travel around the whole park without disturbing the birds and still get a close look at them. The lake also has two watch-towers at the sides by which you can watch the whole lake with binoculars. The surrounding area of the sanctuary too receives a good variety of birds flying about. If you are planning to take photos of these birds then it will be better to arrange for a good camera because the watch tower and even the vehicle won't take you too near the birds for the fear of the them getting scared.When to visit Bhindawas Bird Santuary
The best time to visit the sanctuary is December-January when you will get to see the maximum variety of birds.
The visiting timing in the summers are 6 am to 6 pm and in winters it is 6.30 am to 5 pm.Species of birds commonly found in the Bhindawas Bird Sanctuary
The birds which normally visit the sanctuary each year are Blue Peafowl, White-throated Kingfisher, Rose-ringed, Great Egret, Eurasian Collared Dove, Mallard, Crested Lark, Jungle Babbler, Ashy Prinia etc.

By air- The nearest airport is the Chandigarh airport which is also the capital of Haryana which is also well connected to other parts of North Haryana. Otherwise Indira Gandhi airport in New Delhi is also a nearby airport.
By railways- The Chandigarh railway station is nearest to Jhajjar
By car- After reaching Chandigarh or Delhi you will need to take a bus or a private vehicle to reach the sanctuary. It is a 2 hour drive from Delhi, 40 kms ride from Gurgaon, 40 kms ride from Jhajjar town and three hour drive from Chandigarh.
