Professor Om Prakash Shukla, who was the Vice- Principal & HOD of Economics at NDA, was appointed as the New Principal of National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla in Pune city of Maharashtra state, India. The NDA is a tri-service academy where cadets of the Indian Army, the Indian Navy and the Indian Air Force are trained together. This National Defence Academy was established in the year 7 December 1954 & is having affiliation with Jawaharlal Nehru University New Delhi.
Professor Shukla is an expert in public policy, development economics and finance. He is also an alumnus of the Allahabad University. He also occupied important positions in his previous jobs in the prestigious institutes. Some of the institutes where he held important positions were Armapore Post-Graduate College under Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University, National Sample Survey Organization New Delhi and Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Department respectively. Apart from this, Prof Shukla is a research guide and principal investigator also. Prof Shukla has successfully supervised 4 M. Phil scholars and 11 Ph. D scholars in the field of development studies. Presently he is the guide for 3 research students of Symbiosis International University Pune.
