Sarthana Nature Park & Zoo
Prior to 1984 there was no zoo in South Gujarat. The people of the Surat city and surrounding villages, especially the students of the schools and colleges were deprived of the first hand knowledge about wild life. Keeping in view above, the Surat Municipal Corporation has prepared a plan for setting up a Sarthana Nature Park & Zoo.

In last year me and my mother visited Sarthana nature park & Zoo. Sarthana zoological park of Surat is bigger than any other zoos in the state.
The Nature Park is located on Surat Kamrej Road and on the up stream left bank of river Tapi, which is about 10 km. from Surat City and 8 km. away from the National Highway No.8. The park is well connected by Rail and Road route. It is 8 Km. away from Surat Rail-way & Central Bus-station.

Eighty One Acres land of Nature Park is fully vegetated with big trees. Existing open land was utilised for mass plantation with trees like Casuarina, Acacia auriculiformis, Pongamia glabra, Pelto-phorum ferrugineum, Deloniex regia, Tecoma undulata, Teak, Albizzialebbak etc. which have now been fully grown to give a look like forest.
These are available in this zoo. these all the description are true as my knowledge.You can see in this Zoo this all animals, Birds and many other type animal or birds who you want to see like, Lion, Pelicans,Crocodile, Tiger, Flamingo, Gharial, Panther, Tortoise, Four Horned Antelope, Parrots, Python, Browantiered Deer/Manipur Deer, Stork, Python, Chinkara, Crane, Snakes Sp., Black Buck, Cassowary, Wolf, Cockatoo, Wild Ass, Dove Sloth Bear, Lorry Dusky, himalayan Bear, Macow, Hog Deer, Moorhen Purple Otter,Peacock, Indian Wild Buffalo, Nil-gai, Samber, deer, hippo etc many more in sarthana Zoo.
