Badminton player Saina Nehwal was born in Haryana state, india, but later her family shifted to Hyderabad and settled there. Luckily she got the sports spriirt from her parents themselves, who were former badminton champions. It's a fact that children will inherit some good talents from their parents. Apart from playing badminton, she is also a brown belt in karate. She believe that if she were not into badminton, she would however choose the profession of a doctor. Saina Nehwal, the 22 year old badminton player of India caught the attention of the world in 2006 after winning the Philippines Open and the Melbourne Commonwealth Games that year. She was the first Indian woman to enter the quarter finals of the Beijing Olympics 2008 in singles event. Following this victory, she had a historic win at Indonesia Open 2009. The medals won by Saina Nehwal is having a long list. Her medal winning games include the Commonwealth Games New Delhi, Hong Kong Super Series, Indonesian Open Grand Prix etc. No doubt why Saina Nehwal was awarded the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award and Padma Shri award, which are India's highest sporting honor and civilan honor respectively.

The International Badminton Federation named Saina as the most promising player of 2008.
