About Lumbini Park in Hyderabad
Lumbini Park, is a small urban amusement park, situated near the Hussainsagar lake in the city of Hyderabad in the state of Andhra Pradesh of India. Lumbini Park has an area of about 7.5 acres and is very close to the other toruist attractions like Birla Mandir and Necklace Road. Because of its proximity to Birla Mandir the Lumbini Park attracts many tourists as well as local visitors throughout the year.
Lumbini Park got established in the year 1994 and is being maintained by the Buddha Purnima Project Authority ( BPPA ) which functions under the stte government of Andhra Pradesh. Lumbini Park has been renamed as T Anjiah Lumbini Park in honour of the late chiefminister of Andhra Pradesh in the year 2006. The park is located on the Tank Bund Road Bombing of the Lumbini Park in 2007 August
Another most important event that happened at Lumbini Park is that it got bombed in 2007 which killed 44 people. Lumbini Park was one of the targets which were attacked on the 25th august 2007, when a series of bomb blasts shook Hyderabad. The bombing of the park not only killed 44 persons but injured more than 60. Laser auditorium inn the Lumbini Park was one of the crime scenes and at that time more than 500 people were inside the auditorium. There is a laser auditorium , boating facilities, landscaped beautiful gardens as well as Musical fountains. There is a colourful floral clock, man made waterfalls alaong with the musical fountains are the key attractions of the Lumbini Park. The fountains dance to the popular tunes of the film songs along with a brilliant light display. This fountains and the show attracts people into the park irrespective of age. The musical fountains work from 6.30 pm to 8 pm.
This laser auditorium is the first of its kind in the whole of India. The auditorium can seat upto 2000 people at a time for the show. In the summertime three shows are held
The park was developed as a part of the Buddha Poornima project of the state government and is one of the most beautiful parks of the city of Hyderabad . Park is open on all days except Mondays, when it is a holiday for the Lumbini park. The Lumbini park is located at about 3 kilometers from the center of the city of Hyderabad, adjacent to the Hussainsagar lake. You can reach the park through local bus transport which is easily accessible. You can also get cabs and autos to travel from place to place. The timings are 9 am to 9 pm, open daily except Monday.
