Handicapped welfare programmes of Uttar Pradesh government
Uttar Pradesh government conducts number of welfare programs. Welfare programs like reservation, scholarship, maintenance allowance, concession and other facilities. Regulatory authorities of handicapped programs.
Uttar Pradesh government conducts large number of rehabilitation and welfare of handicapped persons. These programs conducted under secretary of Department of Handicapped Welfare of Uttar Pradesh government. List of some welfare program mes of handicapped are given below-
Reservation for Handicapped persons in Jobs and educational institutions
State government announces reservation for handicapped persons to make them independent.
In government jobs-State government provide 3% reservation to handicapped persons divided in three categories.
1.1% for visually handicapped.
2.1% for physically handicapped.
3.1% for deaf and dumb.
In educational institutions, State government have not yet decided any uniform policy for all institutions. But institutions or colleges make their own policies to the welfare of handicapped. Some of them are given below-
Fee relaxation- Agra,Kanpur,Meerut Universities.
Relaxation in Merit - (In admission)-Allahabad University.
Reservation in admission- 5% in Ruhelkhand University, 2% in Kumaon University, 1% in Roorkee University.
Preference in admission for disable soldiers- Agra University.
Writer facility to disable in exam- Lucknow, Kanpur, Agra University.
Extra time in exams for handicapped- Kanpur University.
Age Relaxation for Handicapped persons
Uttar Pradesh government gave age relaxation in two major categories-
For group C and D state government services-10 years.
For group A and B state government services-5 years.
Scholarships for Handicapped persons
At school level-
For 1st to 5th class students-15 Rs/month.
For 6th to 8th class students-20 Rs/month.
For 9th to 12th class students-85 Rs/month.
At college or university level-
For graduation students-125 Rs/month.
For post graduate students-170 Rs/month.
For degree or PG professional students-170 Rs/months.
Allowances for Handicapped persons
Maintenance allowance - 100 Rs/month for those whose monthly income is less than 225 Rs/month.
Disability pension - 125 Rs/month for those live below poverty line.
Conveyance allowance - For handicapped state government employees-in following categories.

Concession for Handicapped persons
*Bus concession-Free traveling up to 1000 km in one year in UPSRTC buses.
For construction of shops-20000 Rs (5000 Rs as grant in aid and 15000 Rs loan without interest).
For marrying to disable-11000 for those normal persons marry with disable.
Assistance for Handicapped persons
For aids or appliances-Actual cost or 1000 Rs whatever is less.
Medical treatment reimbursement.
