Forest research Institute of Dehradoon was built in 1906 & an excellent museum was built in 1914 at Dehradoon. The Forest Research Institute is managed by the Indian Council of Forestry Research and Education. On 6th December 1991, Human Resource Development ministry of India had announced to Forest research Institute of Dehradoon as Deemed University under the notification number of No. F-9-25/89-U-3. Institute researches on the trees & woodlands, to Produce and certify of quality seed & planting materials, social forestry, Eco-rehabilitation of the central Himalayas in Uttarpradesh, Bamboos cultivation etc.

The Indian military academy, Dehradoon was established on 1st October 1932. This academy had only 40 cadets at that time & now 1200 cadets are trained here every year.
