Gorakhpur city is named after the saint Baba Gorakshnath. It lies near Nepal border on the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh. Mayawati(Ex-Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh) had included it in the name of one of the five capitals of Purvanchal. This city is multi-religious like Hindus, Buddhist, Sikhs, Jains and Muslims etc. are found here. People of Gorakhpur follow all religions. There are many religious place in Gorakhpur like Gita Vatika, Gorakshnath, Gita Press etc. Today, Gorakhpur has number one railway station in terms of distance. It is largest railway Station in World after Khadagpur with 1.3 Kilometre distance. Today Gorakhpur is hosting the the headquarters of North Eastern Railways. It is fast developing as a Industrial region. It has an industrial area of 15 Kilometre named GIDA( Gorakhpur Industrial Development Authority). Vikas Sankrityayan Ji(famous saint) was born in Gorakhpur and this is also the birthplace of many saints.
