The Real Mumbai - Best spots to visit in Mumbai
Do you want to experience the real Mumbai? Read this article to learn where to go in Mumbai to see the real Mumbai
Hi Friends,
A few days back I met a European on a tourist trip in Mumbai. We met on a bus i was going to Dadar, he was going to see the Gateway of India and The Taj Hotel. Just for the sake of it I struck a conversation with him, and asked him what he felt about Mumbai. What he said struck me, he said that he enjoyed many places in mumbai like the fishermen colonies in Versova and Mahim and also he saw the old English Architecture of the Mount Mary Church in Hill Road Bandra.
He said many of the plush areas in mumbai he thought lacked the warmth that old mumbai still regained. The more cosmopolitan areas felt very cold and fast paced but the places he loved were the places where old Mumbai still showed up, the people were more friendly some of them even welcomed him into their homes to give him a glimpse of their life.
After i got down at Dadar I actually tried to think through the mind of the tourist and then is dawned on me, a tourist doesn't come to Mumbai to see the skyscrapers but to see the real life and real poeple of Mumbai!

Very true,Ashutosh, that visitors to our city are not interested in the commercial skyline and upmarket areas.
Yes, they are interested in shopping, but would prefer to do so like the typical Mumbaikar - do window shopping at the Malls and bargain-hunt at the smaller more friendly stores!
