I just love food! This is what I say whenever anyone asks me what food I like. I love every kind of food Maharashtrian, Punjabi, Bengali, Gujrati, South Indian, Indian food as a whole, then I also like Mexican, Chinese, Thai, and many more varieties of food. I have a firm belief that whoever or whatever created this world, created food as a Bonus for every one in the world. But when Street Food was created it was like a Bonus Of Bonuses, for street food is the ultimate and most greatest thing. What can i say about street food in Mumbai. Just imagine you can have a full stomach for just about fifty rupees on the streets. Lets start with the pinnacle of street food(at least it is considered by many as the pinnacle) 'THE MUMBAI VADA PAV' yes the king of all street foods. A very simple thing, Just a patty stuffed with a potato bhaji, and then dipped in a batter and fried. Then the patty is placed between a pav lined with Scrumptious chutney. You can get good vada pavs at just about any corner stall in Mumbai. But if you want a bit of a Hygienic Vada Pav then I suggest you go to the 'Jumbo King Vada Pav' Center's spread across the city. You can find one outside the Dadar Railway Station. Now lets talk about another street speciality 'Chaat' there are many different dishes in chaat, you get the Bhel puri, Sev puri, Pani puri, Dahi puri, Ragda patice etc. Bhel puri is just puffed rice, with onions, green chillies, boiled potatoes, and two chutneys, one a sweet-tangy Tamarind and Dates Chutney, and the other a spicy green chilly chutney. All mixed together and served with sev on top, yummy!. Then you have the variant Sev puri, where instead of the puffed rice you have all the other ingredients put on top of one other on a small crispy puri made out of which flour I don't know(if anyone knows then pls do inform me). And this is again garnished with sev. Then you have Pani Puri where a hollow, crispy puri, the size of a ping pong ball, is stuffed with a ragda made from white vatana's cooked until they are quite soft, along with this ragda the puri's are filled with the two chutneys and hurriedly eaten by the people eating them. You can also find people selling dosas on a cart, in my area a man every evening goes round the area selling great dosas and uttapams. Now all this talk is making me hungry so, I'll go now to get some Vada Pav while you go out to do the same. Happy Eatings!FOOD!
