2012 Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon Chip Timing

Participants of the marathon (42.195 km) and half marathon (21.097 km) events at the 2012 Standard Chartered Mumbai Marathon will be given timing chips as these race categories are compulsorily timed races. This Mylaps Sports Timing chip will be given along with a running number bib from the Mumbai Marathon Expo. The chip is for one time use only, for this event & cannot be used for any other distance running events after the race. The runner is allowed to keep the chip as a souvenir at the end of the race. The chip is generally tied to your shoelace, but before doing so, read the instructions given about how to wear the chip and about the race rules & timings. You are not allowed to exchange your timing chip with any other runner as each chip is allotted to the running number of the participant. If you interchange your chip or number bib with any other runner, you will be disqualified from the race.

How the chip works: The Mylaps Sports Timing chip is a waterproof glass capsule which withstands all types of weather conditions. At designated split points along the course of the race, there are mats which, when crossed, will record the signal emitted by the timing chip – your times at those points are thus recorded. Similarly, there will be mats at the Start and Finish points of the race.

21 days after the race day, 2012 Mumbai Marathon timing certificates will be issued to those who have fulfilled the requisite criteria. This certificate can be used as pre-qualification for all AIMS certified distance running events across the world.
