Mumbai's recent pompous mood
An overlook of mumbai and it's festival mood. It highlights the characters of Mumbai when it is in celebration and the wonderful sights one can see during these days of festivity. I am very excited when this time of the year comes around and in this article I write about the views and mood during this period.
Mumbai. Movies. Masala... Bollywood and Mumbai are almost synonyms and one would associate them with each other almost instantaneously! This is THE place if one wants to get into the movies or even star gaze (in the celebrity sense and not looking up at the night sky... How times are changing).
But, more than the "filmy" side, I love Mumbai's festive mood. With the Ganesh festival going on at the moment, the streets of Mumbai are filled with song, color and sharing sweets along with the festivity and drumming devotees of the lord Ganesha. Oh! The drumming, people are usually disturbed by the drums but, I am somehow lost in their trance and have come to enjoying it. It is also the best time to take your camera out and go on a walk - it is truly a time when along with some interesting individual characters, the city's character comes to light as well. I took to the streets along with y camera last year and I saw the most wonderful sights! The beach after the immersion is something one should definitely see. The idols submerged now lie on the sand; some intact but others not so.
Mumbai in celebration is indeed the most amazing and full of magic!
