Safe browsing, How to browse the internet, Cyber safety
This is an article on how to be safe while browsing the internet. It also includes a couple of tips about what to do and what not to do. This does NOT include cyber bullying. That will be in another article of mine.
There are many internet browsers that are meant for safety, but if you don't know how to download or use them, this forum is for you.
- You should never give out passwords, even to friends.
- Always make passwords long, and include one capital letter, at least one number and keep the length between 8-16 characters long, as these are most safe. If you own an apple Mac or Macbook, then there is an option in system preferences if you try to change the users password which generates random passwords.
- You should never give out your IP address, and If you don't know what that is, then don't try to find out.
- Never visit sites that have open chat rooms.
- Don't click on ads on any website, as they may be viruses.
- Never open spam email, as many of these are viruses or hacking tries.
- Never open chain email, as these too are corrupt most of the time.
- Always clear your cookies and history if you think you should.
- And last but not the least, never download unknown anti-virus softwares, as these might contain viruses themselves.
I hope this was helpful.
