Mangu Singh has been appointed as successor of Mr. Shreedharan. Shreedharan was no more willing to extend his service and for this purpose, he had sent an application to Delhi government in June stating that now government should start the selection process of new MD. And now finally, selection committee has finalized Mangu Singh as successor of Shreedharan. Even Shreedharan was also willing to appoint Mangu Singh as MD of Delhi metroso that the working of Delhi metro can run smoothly as before without much alterations.
Present MD, Shreedharan, will retire on the last day of current year, i.e. on 31 December, 2011. So Mangu Singh will handle his responsibilities from 1 January, 2012 for 5 years. Mangu Singh profile
He is a 56 years old man. He hails from Bijnor, a town in Uttar Pradesh. He did his IIT (civil engineering) from Rookree Unversity. He is working in DMRC since its beginning of first phase. Underground metro lines were constructed under his leadership. He had also played an important role in construction of Kolkata metro. Not only this, he had an important role in planning of Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Kochi metro.
