If you have decided to pursue the noble profession of being a school teacher in any of the Government Schools in Assam, it is mandatory for you to qualify in the Assam Teachers' Eligibility Test (TET) according to some recent modifications on the part of the National Council for Teachers' Education (NCET). The aspirants are tested on various subjects like science, mathematics, languages, environmental studies, social studies and other subjects.
The Assam TET is conducted every year by the Assam Sarba Shiksha Abhijan Mission. This year the detailed syllabus of Assam TET 2011 was published on the 15th of July. The Assam TET exam structure consists of two papers which differ according to the level. The Assam TET exam paper 1 questions are for teachers willing to teach from classes 1 to 4 and the Assam TET exam paper 2 questions are for teachers offering to teach from classes 6 to 8. effects, interior of the earth, earth crust and earthquake (with
special reference to Assam), latitude and longitude, Lithosphere,Hydrosphere and Atmosphere
•Landforms: Mountains, plains and plateaus.
•Solar System: Planets and satellites, heat zones.
•Continents; Asia, Europe, Africa, North America, South America, Australia
major physical features, population, climate, minerals, countries and capitals
•Oceans and Mountains: Location, category, important features
•Geography of India: Physiographic divisions, climate, agriculture, population,
political divisions.

parties, world peace and role of India, United Nations Organization and its role in different areas
•Local self Government: Urban city, rural areas and 6th schedule areas.
•National integration: Concept of national integration, constitutional provision for national integration.

•Pre-history- Evolution of Human Civilization from Hunting to Agriculture.
•Growth and development of civilization- Harappa and Vedic civilization.
•Emergence of new religious ideas- Jainism and Buddhism.
•Major political dynasties of India and their contribution - (i) ancient period - Mauryans and Guptas, (ii) Medieval period - Turko-Afghans and Mughals.
•Assam History : (i) Pre historic Assam - Narakasur, Bhagadatta, Bana of Sonitpur and Bhismak of Kundilya, (ii) From 4th century A.D. to 13th century A.D. i.e. Varman dynasty, Salastambha dynasty, Pala dynasty and Kamata Kingdom, (iii) Ahoms - From 1228 A.D. to 1826 A.D., (iv) Neighbouring States of Assam - Chutia, Kachari, Jayantia and Bara Bhuyans.
