Chandubi Lake in Kamrup District

About Chandubi Lake of Assam
It is a large Lake that was created by the devastating 1897 earthquake which made various changes in the topography of Assam. The lake is located at the foot of Garo hills surrounded by Assam and Meghalaya. The place is calm and peaceful covered by deep forest, tea garden and small and distinct villages. The main feature of the lake is the large water lagoon that can be seen in the lake. The other attractions are the surrounding areas with raw jungles, tea gardens and the unique cultural heritage of the villagers. It is one of the best picnic spot for the visitors of the state. Every year during the month of February and March large number of visitors come to this place to see the beautiful lake filled with lots of migratory birds. This place is considered as one of the best place for migratory birds.
The lake offers various opportunities to its visitors such as, fishing, rowing and boating in the waters of the lake. The presence of such provisions makes the Chandubi Lake an ideal tourist destination in Assam.How to reach Chandubi Lake
It is situated at a distance of 64 kilometers from the main city Guwahati.
From Guwahati you have to go towards Airport and then up to Mirza Charali (or police point), from there take left turn towards Mirza College and go towards Barihat> Loharghat> Chand dubi or Chandubi lake road. Up to Mirza buses are available but from there you have to take private vehicle to reach the lake. Take food along with you as there is no such provision of food stall near the lake.
If you are planning to stay at the government tourist lodge near the lake , must carry full ration including kerosene and petrol. Be careful in doing water activities especially boating as lots of accidents occurs here.
