Overview
Dima Hasao district or North Cachar Hills district is an administrative district in the state of Assam. Haflong town is the district headquarters of Dima Hasao district. The district covers an area of 4,888 square kilometers. In the Sixth Schedule status of the Constitution of India this district is considered as an Autonomous District (Lok Sabha constituency). This beautiful district is garlanded by hills with lots of valleys, streams and waterfalls because of which it is popularly known as the 'Switzerland of the East'. One can see the magnificent view emerald green landscape with the rolling mist and the clouds that float around the villages where man and animal live in perfect accord with nature. Halflong :Halflong is the only hill station of Assam located in NC hills. Popularly known as the natures paradise where one can see the rainbow down below, this beautiful hill station is also the district headquarter. It is one of the most favorite tourist destinations in North East India.

Jatinga: A world famous Jatinga village is just 9 kms away from Haflong town. The place is famous for bird mystery (Birds Harakiri). During the months August to November one can see varieties of migratory birds in this place. There is an elevated watch tower from where one can see the whole Jatinga village.
Maibang: This place is located on the bank of the river Mahur and is 53 kms away from Haflong. It was the capital of Dimasa, kachari Kingdom. The main attraction for visitors are the beautiful stone house & the temple of Kachari king & other ruins of the kingdom.

Umrangso: It is 112 km away from Haflong town and is 224 kms away from Guwahati .The huge Hydel power plant has set up in the Kopili river near Umrangso. There is a Hot spring( GARAMPANI) in the place which is the major attraction for tourist.The water of this spring is believed to have medicinal value.
