History of the village
The village Baktpur came into existence about 300 years ago. It is one of the oldest village in the Chamba district. During the 19th century some of the people from this village have participated in the war against the British for the freedom of the nation. During that time this village is not so much progressed but now at the present stage this village had been so much progressed. This village has about 30 houses present in which so many people lives. The current population of this village is about 400 people's out of which 150 men's, 100 women's and 150 children's are present in this village.
This village has so many centers for various activities. This village is the Panchayat of the various Villages. This village has also a dispensary where medicines are provided to the peoples. This village has also an animal hospital where animal are treated free and also member of this hospital also visited various village to treat the animals. This village also an one primary school where so many students reads. There is also a Government High school where students from the various villages are educated from this school.

Around this village, there are so many places for the wondering like in front of this village there is a small river is flowing where you can enjoy or also learn the swimming. And in the last this water is meets with the Ravi River in the Chamba. About 2km above from this village there is a temple of Mata. This temple is situated on the mountains from where you can enjoy the beautiful view of the Chamba City. This village has one small temple where every year in the month of the June there is a function which is known as Jatar.

This village is about 15 km from the Chamba on the Khajjiar road. You can reach this place by bus or taxi. In winter there is heavy snow fall so summer is the best time to visit this place and also this place is very cold so when you visited this place then always wear warm clothes.
