History of the Khajjiar lake
This lake is one of the oldest and lake in the city. It is one of the largest natural lake in the the district. This lake was found during the time of Mahabharata. The people of this believes that this lake is related to the god which is known as Naag Devta i.e. God of Snakes. The people of this also said that one day some people came here and they are decided to absorb all the water and made here a large ground for the cricket but when they start their work then there snake came from the water, after that the people believes that this is not a lake but it is a temple. And on the one corner of this lake a temple of Khaji Naag is made where a statue of the local Devi and Devta are placed.
Around this lake there is a big ground, around which there are so many trees are present. In this lake there are small boats are present for the boating, so if you are interested in the boating than you can enjoy the boating in this lake.
Nearby places for the wondering
As this lake is situated in the Khajjiar, which is a beautiful hill station and very well famous for the heavy snow fall. This place is also known as the Mini Switzerland of the Himachal Pradesh. In this place there are so many temple are present. You can also enjoy the horse riding as well as Para gliding. There is also a two large statue of the Lord, one of the Lord Shiva which is about 85feet in height and polished with the bronze solution and another one is of Lord Hanuman which is of red colour.
How to reach this lake
This lake is about 25 km from the on the Khajjiar-Dalhousie road. You can easily reach this place by taking bus or taxi from the Chamba. As this place is famous for the heavy snow fall so summer is the best time to visits this lake.
