History of the International Minjar Fair
We are talking about the one of the famous fair of the chamba district which is known as International Minjar Fair. This fair came in the month of the end of the July and in the first week of the month of the August and continues for the 14 dyas in which so many cultural programs are performed by the local artist. The history of this fair is very interesting. This fair firstly begins in the 17th century. This fair is a symbol of the love between the brother and sister. When this fair begin than sister pet a long thread on the shirt of the brother which is known as Minjar and after one week this is flown in the water. Sister prays for the brother long life and brother will promise that he will protect her sister.
This fair firstly was started by the Chamba local Raja Shail in the 17th century after that this fair every organised in the month of the July. This fair is held in the historical ground which is known as Chamba ground.
The main attraction of the fair
This fair was begin in the month of July and continues for the 14 days in which so many different programs takes place. This fair was held in the historical ground. On the first day of the fair in the night the chief guest will inaugurate the fair and local programs performs the cultural programs, after that singer came and some entertainment programs are performed by him/ her and it will continues till the 12 pm or 1am. And in the first week of the fair the night programs takes places on the last day of the first week of the fair there is taken Jallos form the historical ground to the Ravi River which is about 3 km from the ground. In the Jallos there are so many Deve-Devata and local people go to the river and flow their Minjar into the water after that ion the night programs takes places.
Also there are some entertainment resources are also available in this fair. You can enjoy it. Apart from it there are so many shops are available which are came from the different states like Gujarat, Rajasthan, Bihar, Punjab, Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir. Exhibition is also held by the government and private organisation. Last year the exhibition was held by the NHPC Chamera, Forest department of the Chamba and agricultural department of the Chamba and also by the some private colleges.
How to reach this place
This fair is celebrated in the Chamba district. It came in the month of the July and in the first week of the August and continues for the 14 days. So this is the best time to visit this place. During that time this place is so much hot so always low clothes. You can easily reach this place by bus as well taxi. Distance of Chamba from the various places is given below:
From Shimla it is about 400km, from Chandigarh it is about 300km, from the national capital it is about 600km and form the Jammu and Kashmir it is about 200km.
You can also reach this place by train as well aeroplane and the nearest railway station and airport is in Pathankot from where this place is about 100km.
