Lavi Fair in Rampur

Here we are talking about the one of the famous festival of the state as well as Shimla which is known as Lavi Fair. This fair was celebrated in the Rampur Bushar which is about 130km from the Shimla. This fair is also known as the Trade fair between the Kinnuar and Tibet and Shimla. This is the oldest and first trade fair of the country which was firstly started in the 15th century by the local king of the Rampur. This is one of the famous fair of the North India which is held in the month of the November and it will continues for the three days in which so many things are sold by the local people.
As this fair is basically famous for the trade so, firstly when this fair started in the 15th century than the king of Rampur and the Tibet exchanged the so many things. After that this fair every year celebrated in the month of November. But nowadays this fair is totally changed, the people of this area sold the local things like Dry fruits, Wool clothes and horses.

International Renuka fair

Renuka fair is one of the famous and religious fair of Sirmour district. This fair came in the month of November and continues for the seven days. This fair is celebrated on the bank of the Renuka Lake. This fair first time celebrated during the times of Mahabharata. The story behind this fair is very interesting which is given below.
This fair is based on the mother of Lord Parshu ram who is Renuka Ji. It is said that Lord Parshu Ram is the 6th incarnation of the Lord Vishnu. Renuka had not a child so he pray to the Lord Shiva and after the long prayer she get a son in the incarnation of the Lord Vishnu which is known as Parshu ram. One day the father of Parshu Ram were killed and Renuka Ji jump into the water after that from that water Renuka Ji came outside and there is a formation of the Renuka lake.
When this fair started than the idol of the Lord Parshu ram is taken to this lake and it is bathed into it and after that he taken back to the temple.

Shiv Ratri festival

In 16th century Raja Ajbar Sen was the one of the greatest king of the Mandi district; he ruled for a long time and built so many temples in the district. But he built one of the famous temples in the Mandi Town which is known as Bhoot Nath temple which is known as temple of Lord Shiva's. During his kingdom the people of this area only worship the Lords Shiva's. But in the 17th century when Raja Sural sen become the king of the Mandi district, than he changed some of the rules of the previous kingdom. During her time period he also built large number of the temples but he built all the temple of the Lord Vishnu and during his time period people of this area worship the Lord Vishnu.
But the main history of this festival is related to the Ishwari Sen, who has been prisoner for the 12 years when he lost during the war with the king of the Punjab. After 12 years he was released by the Gurkha who invaded the Kangra district and after reaching his home town Mandi he invited the Gurkha for the dinner and after that this festival begins. After that this festival celebrated every year in the month of the Feb and March.

International Dussehra festival

Here we are talking about the one of the famous festival of the Kullu Valley which is known as International Dussehra festival. This festival every year came in the month of October and stared after the Vijay Dashmi and continues for the seven days. The history of this festival is very interesting which is given below.
During 17th century when this beautiful valley was rules by the local king Jagat Singh. In his time period there is a person named Durgadutta who had so many beautiful pearls. The Raja get greedy towards that pearls and order to the Durgadutta that you have to choice either you have to sacrifice or you have to give the beautiful pearls to me. Than the same time he cursed the king that whatever you eat will become the warm and whatever you drink will appears as blood.
The local Brahimn of that valley said that you will free from this cursed if you installed an idol of the Ragunath which is in Ayodhya. So the Raja sent some of the Brahimn to that place and one day they had stolen the statue and came back to the home, in the next day people of the Ayodhya see that the idols of the Ragunath is not there so they search it and at last they found that brahimn on the bank of the Saryu River. So they asked him that why you stolen it than they told the story of the Raja. But the people of the Ayodhya wants to take it back but the idol of the Ragunath became heavy when it is taken towards the Ayodhya and become easy to lift when taken towards the Kullu Valley. So the Raja installed the statue of the Ragunath and after that he will be from the cursed. After that this festival is started in the Kullu Valley every year.
