Shoolini festival is one of the oldest and religious festivals of the Solan district. This festival came every year in the month of the June and continues for the three days. This festival was firstly started in the beginning of the 18th century when there was a Mata whose name was Shoolini Devi after his sacrifice this festival is celebrated in the memory of her sacrifice. There was a big temple on the opposite side of the old bus stand. In this temple there is an idol of the Mata is placed and in front of this idol there are two small lions are made on the both side of the entering gate. The main attraction of the festival was its Yatra of various God on the first day of the festival. This Yatra was taken from the Shoolini Mata temple to the market and in the later evening this yatra is came back to the temple. There are so many Gods are taken in this yatra. There are so many peoples are visited to see this which are came from the different parts of the country.
There are so many entertainment resources are available where you can enjoy. In this festival there are so many shops are opened by the people in the Todo Ground. In the night local artist perform the cultural programs and other dance program was performed by the school children this will continues till the late night up to 1 AM.
Apart from it there is some events are also organised by the Committee like this year Kushti (wrestling) was organised in which the first three winner gets the prize as well as cash payment up to 20,000 RS.How to reach Shoolini Fair, Himachal Pradesh
This festival is celebrated in the historical Todo Ground which is about 2 km from ISBT. You can easily reach this place by Bus. This place is connected to the Chandigarh as well as Delhi by the NH. You can easily reach this place by train and the nearest railway station is in Chandigarh from this place is about 75km. you can also reach this place by aeroplane and the nearest airport is in Chandigarh from where this place is about 75 km.
As we already mentioned that this festival came in the month of the June so this is the best time to visit this place and during that time this place is too much hot so always T –shirt and pent.
