Kinnaur: Famous for the High Mountains



Kinnuar is one of the beautiful districts of the Himachal Pradesh which is basically famous for the High Mountains and heavy snowfalls. This district has five tehsils and district headquarters is situated in the Reckong Peo. It is the 12th administrative district of the HP with a total area of about 6000 square km. it is the 2nd least populated district of HP after Lahaul and Spiti. kinnaur: Land of green valley covered with snow in Winter

This district is basically famous for the temples and heavy snowfall. There are so many varieties of orchards, vineyards and apples are present. This place is situated on the corner of the HP. The cultural and language of this district is different from other part of the state. This district is situated on the NH-22 and it is about 250 km from Shimla.

Kalpa

This is one of the biggest and beautiful place of this district which is about 110 km from the Sarahan. This village is situated on the bank of the river which is originating from the Kinner Kalish (Which is one of the Highest Kailash of the state). You can reach this place from Shimla via Rampur or from Manali via Rohtang Pass. From Shimla it is about 245 km and from the Manali it is about 400 km. The summer is the best season to visit this place because in the winter temperature of this place freezes to under zero and all the road are disconnected from the other part of the state.

Rekong Peo: Headquarter of Kinnaur

Headquarter of the Kinnuar district is situated in the Rekong Peo which is about 7 km from the Kalpa. Here all the administrative and other offices of this district are situated. The market of this place is basically popular for the lacal things of this district. This market is so much biig which is spread in large are. So when you visit this place then always visit this market.

Sangla Valley

Sangla Valley is much rich in landscape which is covered with different types of flowers and other grass. Below this valley Kinnuar's one of the famous river flow which is known as Baspa River. About 2 km from the Sangla Valley there is old fort situated which is known as "Fort of Kamru" which had tower like structures. Chitkul is the last village of this valley, beyond this village boundary of Tibet starts.

Nako: Religious lake of Kinnaur

In the valley of Hanrang, there is a big village is situated which is known as Nako. The name of this village is taken from the name of the Lake Nako. Here in this place there is a big natural lake which is known as Nako Lake. Here in this lake you can enjoy the boating in the summer while in winter it is frozen. Here in this place there is also a small Buddhist monastery where so many Buddhist monks learn education. This lake is about 117 km from the Kalpa.

Tabo: Largest Buddhist Monastery

Tabo is an ancient village of this district which is situated on the bank of the Spiti River and which is about 163 km from the Kalpa. This place is basically famous for the Buddhist monastery; this is the second famous monastery in the world after Tholing Gompa monastery in Tibet. Tabo is the largest monastic area of the Spiti and is also known as the Ajanta of the Himalayas. In the recent past years, archaeological department of India declared it as protected monuments of country.

Kaza: Famous for heavy snow fall

This place is situated on the bank of the River Spiti and about it is about 210 km from the Kalpa and about 45 km from Tabo. This place is famous for the Buddhist monastery and Hinduism temples. This place is the sub head quarter of the Spiti Valley. In the ancient times it was the capital of the Spiti. This place is also famous for the heavy snowfall, every year in the winter season there is about 10 to 15 feet snow fall occur.

Key Gompa: Oldest monastery

This is also one of the famous place of the Kinnaur district which is basically famous for the monastery. Here Sipti's Valley largest monastery is situated which was made in the 11th century. Here largest number of Buddhist monks and nun lives. There are so many ancient Buddhist scrolls and paintings are present. This place is about 7 KM from Kaza.

Kimber: Highest village of the world

This is the world first village which is situated on so much high from the sea level which is connected to other parts by road also and held so many elections. This place is about 18 km from Kaza. Total height of this village is about 4210 meter from the sea level.
