Lahual and Spiti: Largest district of HP with least populated
Lahaul and Spiti is one of the largest district of the Himachal Pradesh in area wise, it is spread in about 13000 square km area. This district has the lowest amount of the population in the state. This district is divided into two main divisions: Lahual and Spiti. Headquarter of this district is situated in the Keylong. The total literacy rate of this district is about 87% which is very good. Their total population is about 31000 peoples. Here in this article basically we are talking about the famous place of this district and what are the main attractions of this district.

Ki-Gompa in Spiti
This is one of the famous place of the Spiti valley which is basically famous for the Buddhist monastery which was built in the ancient times. Most of the peoples of this district believe in the Buddhist religion. There are so many Buddhist monks and nuns lives in this valley. It has so many monasteries which are situated in the different part of the district. Here in this place, there is one of the famous monastery of this valley is situated.
Apart from monasteries there are so many famous temples are situated of the different Hinduism God. There is a famous temple of Triloknath, which was built in this valley about 10 years ago. Every year there are so many pilgrimage visit and worship the different god especially Lord Shiva's. This is because the North India or Himalayas was the living place of the Lord Shiva's.
Valley of Lahaul
This district has different valley which is rich in different types of flora and fauna. Basically this valley has 3 famous valleys which are Tinan Valley, Pattern Valley and Punan or Todh/Ghar valley. People of the pattern valley are purely Hinduism and they worship Lord Shiva's. The peoples of the Tinan valley are influenced by both Hinduism and Buddhism religion, and worship both religions. While the people of Tinan valley are believed in the Buddhism religion and they only worship the Lord Buddha.

There are so many Buddhist monasteries are situated in the different parts of the valley. In Pin valley, Ki, Dhankar, Shashur, Guru Ghantal and Khungri and in the Lahlung area there are Komic and Sherkhnag Gompa monastery are situated.
Chandra Tal Lake
Chandra Tal Lake is one of the beautiful and biggest natural lake of the state. This lake is one famous tourist spot in this valley where every year so many tourists visits this lake.
Tabo
This monastery was found in 10th century by the great scholar, Richen Zangpo and has been declared as the world heritage by the UNESCO. This is one of the best place for the wondering in Spiti Valley which is about 45 km from the Kaza, it is also the capital of Spiti region. This place is basically famous for the Buddhist Monastery which was built 1000 years ago and celebrated its 1000th years in 1996. This monastery houses so many collections of Buddhist scriptures, Buddhist statues and other religious books of Buddhism religion.

Spiti is one of the important centre of the Buddhism in Himachal Pradesh. This place is also known as the 'Land of Lamas'. In this valley there are so many Buddhist and Gompa monasteries are situated.
Kye Monastery
This monastery is one of the key research centre of the Buddhist in India in which about 300 Lamas are receiving their religious training from here. This is one of the oldest and biggest monastery in Spiti Valley. This monastery is basically famous for houses a big collection of painting and beautiful sculptures of Buddha and their other gods and goddess. This monastery also houses collection of so many musical instruments which you can see in some of the famous monastery in Nepal like Trumpets, Cymbals and Drums.
Festivals of Lahual and Spiti
Himachal is the land of God; here every district celebrated its festivals in different ways. The 'Losar' festival is one of the famous festivals of this district which is celebrated in the month of Jan or February; celebration date of this festival was decided by the Lamas of this valley. This festival is one of the religious festival of Buddhism as Hinduism celebrate Diwali, Tibetan celebrate this festival.
At the start of the festival, two or three persons from every household will come holding burning incense. The burning sticks are then piled into a bonfire. The people will then pray to Shiskar Apa, the goddess of the wealth in Buddhist religion.
Fagli Festival
This also one of the famous festival of this district which is celebrated in the month Feb or March. This festival is the sign of the beginning of the New Year in Tibet and Chinese calendar. They celebrate this festival with very enthusiasm and enjoy by dancing, singing and other source of enjoyments.
Adventures in Lahaul and Spiti
Tracking
For trekker, this is valley is paradise, offering challenging treks to explore the new heights of Himalayas. Here are the some main tracking areas: Kaza-Langza-Hikim-Komic-Kaza, Kaza-Ki-Kibber-Gete-Kaza, Kaza-Losar-Kunzum La and Kaza-Tabo-Sumdo-Nako. There are some very high altitude treks also where you have to cross passes- like Parangla Pass (connecting Ladakh with Spiti Valley), Pin Parvati Pass, Baba Pass, Hampta Pass treks are few to name.
Yak Riding
This is one of the most excitement adventures in Sipti valley. You can hire the Yak to see the beautiful view of the flora and fauna. You can also enjoy the horse riding in this place.
Skiing
As this place is popular for the heavy snowfall so many sports activities are held in this place but skiing is one of the famous ice adventures at this valley.
How to Reach this Valley
This place is connected to the other part of the country by National Highway (NH) on Manali- Leh highways. This highway is closed in the winder because heavy snowfall occurred here. So summer is the best season to visit this place.
