Diwali celebration in Sirmaur
Here we are talking about how peoples of Sirmaur district celebrate the Diwali festival. This year Diwali Festival was celebrated on 3rd November. On the morning of the Diwali peoples clean their houses and most of the peoples painted their house with new colors and buy different things on that day because they think this is the best time and also company will give some discount as well as bumper gift to the customers.
In the afternoon the children brings the bundles of the grass and collect in a single place, children of single village collect grass together. This grass will be burn on the nest day in the early morning. In the evening peoples burns candles and light in their house and children burn the fire crackers in the night. They give sweets to each other in the village and eat the foods in the night. In the diner they eat special dishes which you will found only this district which is known as "Shitaku" and also sweet known as "Shakri".
On the next day, in the early morning about 3 am peoples of the village wake up and collect together in temple. They bring a bundle of wood and burn it with fire and go to the oldest temple of the village there dance and sing local Nati, after that they go to the 2nd oldest temple of the village their they dance with enthusiasm and finally they go the place where they collects the grass and burn it and put the bundle of woods into this fire and burn so many crackers. And then they return to the temples. The men and women of the village then dance on the Nati for about an hour and they go back to the home.
In the afternoon the peoples of the village again together and dance on the Nati which will continue till the evening. The men and women of the village together dance in the ground. The children of the village also dance and fire cracker. This is how peoples of the Sirmaur enjoy the festival and in some villages they also celebrate Diwali on the next day.
Main attraction of the Festival
The main attraction of the festival is eatable things which they eat during the festival. The other main attraction is firing of the Grass and bundles of the wood in the early morning and dancing of peoples on Nati in the afternoon.
