History behind the Chamba district
This district was initially founded by the local King of the District Sahil Verman in the 15th Century. During the British Rule firstly it was the part of the Punjab but in the end of 16th Century it became the part of Himachal Pradesh and declared separate district. This district is basically famous for the heavy snowfall and for the mountains where you can enjoy the ice skating and the mountain tracking.

Chamba: Famous for monuments
Chamba which is basically popular for the historical monuments and which lies on the bank of the Ravi River. Here in this place there are so many temples are present such as Lakshmi Narayan Temple situated in the Main Market, Chandi Mata Temple which is situated on the top of Hill and about 2 km from the bus stand, Suhi Mata Temple which is about 500 meter from the Chaudi Mata Temple and Shitla Mata Temple which is about 2 km behind from the Chamba. Apart from temple there are other historical monuments such as Bhuri Singh Museum which was funded by the one of the king of district Bhuri Singh that why it is called so. Here in this museum you will the oldest culture of this district. There is also a big ground situated in the middle of the Market and on the one end of the ground there is India Gate and on the other side there is a millennium gate is present.


Dalhousie: Famous for Snowfall
Dalhousie which was established by the Former Governor of the British Lord Dalhousie, that's why this place is named so on. This place is about 50 km from the Chamba. It is basically famous for the heavy snowfall in the month of December and January. So if you want to enjoy the snowfall than Christmas and New Year is the good time to visit this place because during that time most probability snowfall would be occur. Apart from it there are so many places for the wondering like Churches, Zoo and artificial lake where you can enjoy the boating. Here in this place you can also enjoy the mountain tracking and shooting.


Khajjiar: Popular for Temples and Statues
This place is about 30 km from the Chamba and it is popular for the Temples and Lakes. Here in this place there is a natural lake situated which was one of the oldest lake of the state. On the bank of this lake three is a temple of Naag Raja. Here about two statues are situated one of Lord Shiva which is about 85 feet in height and color with Bronze solution and second statue of the Lord Hanuman which is about 20 feet in height. In the month of December, this place is fully covered with snow during that time this place was totally disconnected with other parts of the state. You can enjoy snow in the month of March and April when all the roads are cleared. There are so many adventures were present like Horse Riding, Balloon Riding and Para Gliding etc.


Bharmaur: Known for Temple
This place is about 90 km from the Chamba and is popular for the Temples. Here in this place there are so many temples were situated. The one of the popular temple of this place is known as Chaurashi Temple which was one of the oldest temples of the district. About 15 km form this place one of the religious and natural lakes was situated which is known as Dal Lake. It is believed that here in this place Lord Shiva along with his Wife lived.
