Mini Switzerland of HP
Khajjiar is also known as the Mini Switzerland of the Himachal Pradesh and there is very interesting story behind this name that why we called this place as Mini Switzerland of the state. This place was initially founded or discover in the 16th century by the British peoples and before that it looks like a place situated in the middle of the forest. But after the 16th century there are so many development have been done by the both British and state government. This place is very attractive which is situated in the middle of the Deodar trees and in the winter season this place covered with snow so that's the peoples of British named this place as Mini Switzerland.
When initially this place was founded by the British peoples then there is only one natural lake which is situated in the middle of the ground and is surrounded by the deodar and other trees. But now you will see that this place is totally changes and it becomes one of the best tourist places in the district as well as state and every year so many peoples visited this place from the other state and also from the abroad. So if you are thinking to stay your summer holidays in the hilly areas then it is good choice to visit this place and enjoy the natural beauty of the place.
Main attraction of the spot
This place is basically famous for the one of the biggest natural lake which is situated here and yet the depth of this lake is immeasurable. This lake is situated in the middle of the ground which so big ground as big as Cricket stadium. In this place there are about 4 to 5 temples of the Lord Shiva and Nag Deities are situated. The Nag temple which is situated on the bank of this lake was one of the oldest and religious temples of the state which was built in the 16th century.
This place is also famous for the idols and statues of the Lord. Here Lord Shiva's biggest statue of 85 feet is built up and which is coated with bronze solution and you can see this statue from faraway places. It was initially started in the year 2007 and was successfully completed in the 2012 year. In front of this statue there is a temple of Mata and when you visit this place then feels that it is one of the peace places where no noise is present. Apart from this statue there is another statue of the Lord Hanuman is situated which is not so much big it is about 15 to 2o feet in height and is in the color of brownish red.
There are so many government and privates hotels, restaurant and bars are present for the staying where you can live and enjoy. The famous hotels and restaurant which are present in this place are Deodar, Royal Residency, Hrithik place and etc.
In this place there is wildlife sanctuary is also present where you can also see the different varieties of the flora and fauna.

This place is situated about 25 km from the bus stand where you can easily reach this place by bus as well as taxi. There are limited government buses are available for this place but you can get the taxi for this place. The best season to visit this place is in the summer or in case if you want to see the snow fall then in the month of December or January is the best time to visit tis place.
