The department of education has declared that the candidates have to appear the common entrance test in order to take admission in the technical institutes in the B Tech, Polytechnic, BCA, BBA, MCA and MBA.

State government has decided that it is mandatory to conduct the common entrance test by the university in order to take admission in the private as well as government technical college across the state. This rule will be applicable from the academic session 2014-15 this year.
They have announced that if someone want to take admission in the government as well as private engineering college or university the he/she have to give the entrance examination conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Examination in the month of April known as JEE Main examination and in order to take admission in the state's government and private engineering colleges then you have to fill the counseling from available at the government polytechnic and ITI institutes across the state and at the time of counseling candidates have to show their marks sheet of the JEE Main examination and the DMC of the last examination passed. The candidates who have not given the JEE Main examination can't get admission in the engineering colleges.
The candidates who want to take admission in the Polytechnic courses in any streams then they have to appear the common written examination by the Himachal Pradesh Technical Education Board known as Polytechnic Admission Test (PAT). On the basis of marks obtained in this test candidates are selected for the Government College as well as private college. And for the direct admission in the private instates candidates have to show their marks sheet of the PAT examination, candidates who have not given the PAT examination then he/she can't get the admission in the polytechnic institutes.
For the admission in the B Tech and polytechnic courses entrance exam is conducted by the CBSE and HPBSE. But for the admission in the BCA or other technical courses new exams will be conducted by the university or institutes.
The state has announce the new rule for the BCA, BBA, MCA and MBA that in order to take admission in any of these courses then institutes have to conduct the common entrance test and on the basis of the marks obtained in the examination candidates will be selected and in any case if students will get the admission without the CET then university will takes action against him/her.
