Minjar Festival in Chamba
It is one of the major Monsoon festival celebrated in the state across the Chamba district in the month of July every year. This festival was initially started on the last Sunday of the July month and will continue for the next 2 weeks. The main attraction of this festival is the local dance performed by the state artist and also night programs will be made live by the Hindi and Punjabi singer. Apart from it there are sports events will be taken place, wrestling competition on the first week of the Sunday will be held, several exhibition will be organized by the private as well as government organization and you can also enjoy the local sweets of the Chamba district during the festival.
This festival was initially started in the 16th century by the local king of the Chamba and this festival is as sign of loving relation between the brother-sister. On the first day of this festival sister put a long thread on the brother's shirt and after one week the peoples of Chamba together on the bank of Ravi Riven and they flow this Thread known as Minjar into the water.
Nag Panchami
It is also one of the famous Monsoon festivals which are celebrated across all over the country. This festival is basically celebrates in order to worship the God of Snake. When this festival is started then peoples worship the Snake and offer milk to honor the snakes. During the same festival peoples also visits the lord Shiva's temple because most of the snake's idols will be placed in the Shiva's temples and it is believed that Lord Shiva lives with wife and children into the Himalayan so the peoples of the North East region basically celebrates this festival and worship the Lord of Snake and Lord Shiva. This festival is celebrated in the month of 'Shravan'.
Raksha Bandhan
It is also one of the famous festivals which are celebrated in the month of August. It is also brother-sister festival in which sister put a long red color thread and prays for his long life. It is believed that this thread will protect the brother from all evils. This is also famous festival which is celebrated across the whole country.
