Sindhu Menon, a native Malayali brought up in Bangalore, Karnataka, is a versatile actress in the sense that she can perform varied roles in varied languages! As a child, Sindhu focused on academics and dance, bharatnatyam being her favourite dance form. She won a local bharatnatyam dance competition, enamoured one of the judges, and got introduced to Kannada film director K. V. Jayaram. Sindhu thus landed her first role in Rashmi(1994), when she was still in primary school! Her debut in a main role was at age 13 in another Kannada film Prema Prema Prema (1999).
At age 15 Sindhu was to cross the threshold of Tollywood with the film Bhadrachalam. She went on to establish herself in the Telegu film industry for more than seven years. Alongside, she flitted to other films too, including Malayalam and Tamil films. It was when the Malayalam film Pulijanmam bagged the 2007 National Film Award for Best Film that Sindhu was firmly in the spotlight.
