Rakshita is the daughter of Famous Kannada actress Mamtha Rao and Cinematographer B.C.Gourishankar. Unfortunately her father couldn’t see his daughter’s success due to his untimely demise. Her career in films was a good one. But she announced her retirement very early.

Kannada actress Rakshitha did the same role in telugu remake of "Appu" which was renamed as "Idiot" with Ravi Teja as co-star, the movie was also a big hit establishing her in telugu cinema industry also.
