Thattekere Narasimhaswamy temple


This is an article on the not so famous but a very old and important Narasimhaswamy temple visited by several Maharajas of several dynasties. The temple is in a place which is not even a village but a hamlet. The temple is around 45 km away from Bengaluru City. Please read on.

Thattekere village


Thattekere is a small village in Bangalore rural district in Nelamangala Taluk near to Solur Village. It is about 45 km from Bengaluru City. The place is a very small one with a population of about 350. It is serene and tranquil village full of greenery. People have to go to Solur and from there they have to proceed to the Thattekere.


Narasimhaswamy temple


There is a small Vaishnav temple in the village without any gopura nor does it have any tower. In the sanctum sanctorum – garbhagudi the idol is Narasimhaswamy. The deity though is of Narasimhaswamy is known as Ranganathaswamy. Unlike many other Narasimhaswamy temple, in this temple the idol is in standing posture in a lotus. Other deities in the temple are Goddess Lakshmi, Goddess Saraswathi, Garudalvar and Anjaneyaswamy. The main idol of the temple Narasimhaswamy is with 4 hands.


TIt is said that many kings from many dynasties have come here and worshipped. One of the Mysore Maharajas has rebuilt this temple from damage. The Goddess Lakshmi is on to the left in a separate shrine. There is also a small shrine to the right for the Vaishnava Sant Ramanujachariar the Vaishnava supreme Guru.

There is bus service from Bengaluru to Solur village. From there autos are available to go to Thattekere.

Since this is a small village temple, there are no records or information about the place or temple.
