About NIFT, Bangalore
National Institute of Fashion Technology was established inn 1986, under the Ministry of Textiles of India. NIFT has its centres at Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Mumbai.NIFT offers the following Bachelor courses in Designing :-
1. B.Des- Accessory Design
a) Intake: 240 seats in total. Thirty seats from metro and other cities including Bangalore.
2. B.Des- Fashion Communication
a) Intake: 150 seats in total. Thirty seats each from Bangalore, Hyderabad, Kangra, Mumbai and New Delhi.
3. B.Des- Fashion Design
a) Intake: 330 seats in total. Thirty seats each from metro cities including Bangalore and other cities like Kangra, Gandhinagar, Patna, Raebareli and Shillong.
4. B.Des- Knitwear design
a) Intake: 210 seats in total. Thirty seats each from Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kannur, Kolkata, Mumbai and New Delhi.
5. B.Des- Leather design
a) Intake: 120 seats in total. Thirty seats each from Chennai, Kolkata, New Delhi and Raebareli city.
6. B.Des- Textile design
a) Intake: 330 seats in total. Thirty seats each from metro cities including Bangalore and cities like Bhubaneshwar, Gandhinagar, Kangra, Kannur.Eligibility for all Bachelor in designing courses:
a)10+2 or equivalent from any board-CBSE/State/ISC.
b)Basic computer knowledge and skill related to MS-office, operating system, data base application and net surfing abilities is a must for all the courses.
7. B.F.Tech- Apparel Production
a)Intake: 323 seats in total. 32 seats from each metro cities including Bangalore and other cities like Gandhinagar, Kangra, Kannur. 35 seats at Jodhpur.
b)Eligibility: 10+2 (with physics, chemistry and mathematics) from any recognized education board.
8. M.Des- Design
a) Intake: 60 seats, out of which 30 seats at Mumbai and 30 seats at New delhi.
b) Eligibility: Graduate from any institute, university or diploma in UG design from NIFT/NID. Basic computer knowledge and net surfing skill is a must.
9. M.F.M- Fashion management
a) Intake: 324 seats in total. Thirty five seats each from Bhubaneswar, Jodhpur and thirty seats from Patna. Thirty two seats from Bangalore, Chennai, Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi.
b) Eligibility: Graduate from any institute, university or under graduate diploma of minimum 3 years from NIFT/NID along with basic computer knowledge and net surfing skills, which is a must.
10. M.F.Tech- Fashion Technology.
a) Intake: 93 seats out of which thirty one seats each from Bangalore, Gandhinagar and New delhi.
b) B.Ftech from NIFT/ B.E OR B.Tech from any institute or university. Basic computer knowledge and net surfing skill is a must. Fees aid provided by NIFT:
NIFT under its subsidy program gives financial aid to students. The subsidy will be given only to the eligible students based on the policies laid down for grant of subsidy. Form has to be filled to avail the subsidy, which can be downloaded from the NIFT website. The details of subsidy is as below:-
1.If the annual income of parents is one lakh, the amount of tuition fee to be paid per semester will be Rs. 10,000/-
2.If the annual income of parents is between one lakh to two lakhs, then the amount of tuition fees to be paid per semester will be Rs.20,000/-
3.If the annual income of parents is upto three lakhs, then the tuition fee to be will be Rs. 30,000/- Key points to be kept in mind for admissions at NIFT:
1. The upper age limit is 23 years as on 1st November 2012.
2. The candidate will have to submit the final result of the qualifying degree providing eligibility before 30th September 2012 else the admission will be cancelled and fees will be forfeited.
3.Any candidate who has not appeared for the exam before the date of counselling, he or she will not be eligible for admission at NIFT.NIFT, Bangalore application issue dates and other details:
Application fee: Rs.250/- to be collected in person at NIFT, Bangalore.

Dispatch of admit cards: 28th January 2012
Written Entrance Exam: 12th February 2012
Declaration of Written Exam Result:30th March 2012
Situation Test(creative ability and General ability for Design program)and (Managerial ability test, General ability test for management and technology programs) / GD / Interviews: April-May 2012
Final Admission results: May 30th / 1st week June 2012
