Forest Research Institute (FRI) Dehradun

In 1906 this institute was established as an Imperial Forest Research Institute. It works under the guidance of Indian Council of Forestry Research and education inaugurated in the year 1929.

Courses Offered here are as follows

• Post Graduate Diploma in Biodiversity Conservation.
• M.Sc. Forestry (Economics and Management) and Environment and Management.
• M.Sc. Wood Science and Technology.

This institute is one of its kind and world renowned in the whole world. With the advancement and new invention in case of forestry is concerned it has developed a lot. This is spread in the area of 450 hectares and surrounded by the outer Himalaya with lush green surroundings. It is situated at a distance of seven kilometers from Clock Tower on Dehradun-Chakrata motorable road. This is the biggest forestry institute in the whole India. The institutes has got all the latest gadgets, well equipped laboratories, fields, herbarium etc. for various experiments and teaching purposes. There is also a printing press to print various newsletters and journals of the institute from time to time. All the big ranks in forestry department are the alumina of this very institute and they have made a great contribution in this field to the country.
