Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (SET) for Lectureship Test Details

Maharashtra State Eligibility Test (SET) for Lectureship Test Details:
The University Grants Commission has stipulated a minimum eligible condition so as to do a job of Professor in any of the Universities/Colleges/Institutions of the concerned states. This minimum condition is either they should clear National Eligibility Test (NET) or the State Level Eligibility Test (SET). Every Post Graduate student can apply for the post of Lectureship in various Universities/Colleges/Institutions all over Maharashtra.
The University of Pune is been declared as authorized Agency to conduct examination in the state of Maharashtra. Here, it is to be noted that, those who have completed their Ph.D degree before 2009, will be exempted from the condition of clearing the State Eligibility Test (SET).
Eligibility conditions of SET:
i) The candidate must have a completed a Master's Degree from a recognized Universities/Colleges/Institutions.
ii) The overall aggregate marks must be 55% for open category candidates and 50% for the reserved category candidates.
Here it is important to mention that the candidates in the final year of their Master's Degree can also apply provided if they pass the exam they should submit their degree certificate within 2 years, failing which they will have to reappear for SET exam again.
Time of Exam:
The University of Pune conducts State Eligibility Test twice a year. In the year of 2011 they conducted the exam in the month of August and again in November.
Examination Fees:
i) For open category candidates : Rs. 550/-
ii) For reserved category candidates : Rs. 450/-How to Apply for SET examination:
Keep in mind that the deadline is only for a month from the date of publication of advertisement.
Application is done online while the fees is to be paid via Demand Draft which must be drawn in favor of "THE REGISTRAR, UNIVERSITY OF PUNE, PUNE 411007" that will be payable only at the PUNE branch. Another important thing is that the candidate must have their scanned photograph which should be in JPG format and its size must be less than 50 KB in size.
The last step is to send that system generated application print along with the Demand Draft and also the mark sheet photocopies attested and also a category certificate if the candidate is in reserved candidate.
Result:
The declaration of Result is done online first and then they send the certificate at our home address which takes a month thereafter. Usually it takes 4 to 5 months to declare results online on the website.
Structure of SET Examination:
It is divided in three parts: First two papers are of objective type and both papers will have only 1hour and 15 minutes time respectively. In these papers a total of 60 questions will be there and even if a candidate answers the entire questions only first 50 will be considered valid.
The last paper is of the subject that the candidate has appeared and selected.
Paper I:
General Paper on Teaching and Research Aptitude. Total Marks 100.

Objective type questions that are relative to
the subject in which the candidate has acquired a
Master's Degree. Total Marks 100.
Paper III:
It is a 200 marks paper and it is divided in four sections as follows:
i) Essay Type questions :
Here two questions are to be answered in about 500 words each and each question will have 20 marks each.
ii) Three analytical/Evaluative
: Here 3 questions are to be answered in 300 words each and per question marks are 45.
iii) Nine definitional/Short answer:
Here 9 questions are to be answered in 50 words each and per question marks are 10.
iv) Text based questions:
Here 5 questions are to be answered in 30 Words each and per question marks are 5.
